And you get what you pay for. The Azoo's and Red Sea's (same filter, different name) tend to run through the impellers quickly and soon become rattle traps. I'm basing this on 6 or so of the little filters, 3 came with the 8 inch tanks as a package deal, 2 were picked up for the 2 1/2 gallon nanos, and one spare. The rate of water evaporation in a nano tank makes the canister a better choice, you get better flow, and you can choose the direction of flow.

I picked up a 501 to run on the 14 gallon bowfront, it was underpowered for that job. I traded it to the 30P and it is almost perfect, I'm going to order a 4 pack soon for all the other little tanks. Oh, make sure you get the hanger for the filter. You may not need it but you'll be glad you have it available if you do.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

If you've got bait, I've got wasabi!

I wish I could be like Mr. Sarcastic when I grow up! ;)

The zoo med 501 correct? When my art deco craps out, I will probably upgrade to this one.

I've got a 501 running on a 5 gallon. Works just fine.
