I'm gonna pass on glasscages.com. I really would like a nice 60 x 15 glass tank, but I may have to settle for a 55 gallon tank. I was thinking about emailing aqueon and seeing if they can build me one. My craigslist ad hasn't turned up anything yet.

don't make it so complicated, a new 55 at super pets is only 99.99, how much can you get it from aqueon? plus shipping and all.....and it might arrive cracked :? a 120 (tank only ) is not that spensive either...is the stand and the supplies that add up usually... try wallys too, i think they match prices or so a " customer" said, but sometimes they want to try and get stuff for cheaper...haa, give them a call and maybe you will end up with a new safe tank 8)

I'm fine with buying a 55 gallon tank. I was just hoping to find one that better fits my cabinet. A 55 is the most practical way to go.

Dave, at Centreville Aquarium, has a 120 gallon tank that is 60 inches long, but it's 18 inches deep.

If you go with the 55, then you'll have counter space all the way around the tank and that comes in handy for setting things down when you're working on the tank. That hutch would look fabulous with a piece of granite on it, btw. Or, get a piece of wood, and cover it with laminate that looks like granite. That's a cheaper alternative.

Will you need to shore it up or put on extra support in the structure in order to hold the weight?

I think the people that had it before me had a 55 gallon tank on it too. I could check with them. But I would still want to reinforce it maybe with some 2 x 2s.

As for a top, wood would be easiest, I can just use stain, and polyurathane to protect it. But Granite or laminate would nice also.
