I have a 29G tank I will be setting up with pressurized CO2. I finally got my CO2 tank and regulator.
It's hard to find 30" T5HO fixtures. Catalina Aquarium has one, but it's a little expensive.
So I'm kinda leaning towards CA's 30" Solar PC, 2 x 65 watt fixture, but I'm not sure which bulbs I want to get.
The "stickies" I've read on lighting go in depth, but the data is a little overwhelming. It seems difficult to correlate the information from the articles to the information available from retailers. The articles stress wavelengths in nanometers and retailers key on temp in Kelvins.
Light bulbs available from CA are:
5200 K
6500 K
7200 K
10,000 K
Plant Grow (Red)
I plan on buying from them, they also have a special, 4 bulbs for $40. I may order extra bulbs too.
So your thoughts on any of these bulbs please.
And one more question, about PC bulbs, any preference for square pins or strait pins? Does it matter? I'm leaning toward straight but I have no logical reason to do so.
Thank you, kindly.

Most PC fixtures are straight pin fixtures although there are conversion pieces available to go from one to the other.....My recommendation for PC bulbs would be the 6500 for both or one 6500 and one 10k....am sure others will chime in

I prefer a mixture of 6500k and 10,000k lights.
Joe, if you haven't already, when you order your fixture, call them directly, ask for Jim Shuell, and tell him your with GWAPA. (Say the aquatic plant club in Washington DC). Also, make sure to tell him you want individual reflectors for each bulb, and ask for a price. No guarantees, but he's beat his website prices for several other members. Might even make the T5's feasible for you. Never hurts to call and ask. Jim's been great to our club.
