Alright, so I'm finally ordering parts for the 125. I had my mind set on 2 TEK 36" 4x39W fixtures after hearing all the rave about them. Then, surfing ebay, I found the current extreme Nova 4x39s for $100 less per fixture than the cheapest I could find the TEKs for.
Are the TEKs really that much better?
TEK vs. NOVA
No comparison, honestly. I have both.
Sort of like comparing a Ford Mustang to a Lamborghini Murciélago. Technically, both sports cars.... is there a difference?
Current fixtures have a flat reflector with the bulbs very close together. Think of, like a Coralife reflector for a PC bulb. Now, mind you, I believe that they were decent fixtures for the money - right up until they jacked their prices about 3 months ago - and still remain a decent budget choice, though not as good bang for the buck as they were when they were 20% less than currently priced.
TEK fixtures have individual parabolic reflectors around each bulb, and separates each bulb so the each can have maximum output. Each reflector is hand made on a brake. The difference is simply incredible.
