A couple of weeks ago I caught a little critter scuttling around my gravel. Looked like a tiny version of a dragonfly larva, and indeed it turned out to be a damselfly larva. Then, a few days ago, I noticed a little leftover husk of a larva on one of the emergent pieces of wood in my tank.
And today...I caught this shot of a newly hatched damselfly sitting on my driftwood. Too cool.

That is cool. I had a very pretty blue and green one hatch out of a 2.5 gallon tank once.

All in all, I had four of them hatch over the course of about 3 hours. Beautiful little guys, and of course it was easy to take pictures of them; they were motionless as they waited for their wings to dry, and of course they were sitting under 100w of lights too.

Uhhh....
Was this the tank you were having troubles with shrimp in by any chance?
Voracious predators as larvae, taking on things several times their own size.

Yeah, I wondered for a bit if these buggers could have been my problem, but I doubt it. I was watching my shrimp die slowly and I think it was through stress, not predation.
