ok so i had a large batch of kribensis about 4 months ago, mom passed away when they were attacked by fungus of some sort, anyhow, the point is that they all look like females, you know the tail fins are not elegant as a male should look...all girs or do they need more time?

The differences when they're that small are subtle, but you can tell. Do they have adult coloration? If so, the typical female coloration with the eye spots (if you can call them that) on the caudal and dorsal along with her stouter form can be diagnostic.

The females of Pelvicachromis have rounded ventral fins similar to paddles. The males have pointy ventral fins.
FEMALE P. sacrimontis
MALE P. pulcher

Thanks Francine,
You taught me something new today. I will soon be down in my fishroom examining ventril fins of 11 juvenile kribs.
Later,
Marge
