I picked up a pair of these beauties over the weekend... If I must say so myself, they really look spectacular in my planted tank. Sorry, the picture is not the greatest quality... still can't seem to get that right...

I bought them at Showcase Aquarium in Wheaton. They had a tank with about 10 but that was almost three weeks ago... Joe (the owner) is usually willing to order some if you ask.

Wheaton? No way, that is so close to where I live compared to the other LFS!

Last time I went to Aquarium Depot it took an hour to drive there, but I spent about 3 hours there so it was probably worth the drive.

Scales was my closest LFS, well that and petsmart but petsmart really doesn't count. Scales is great but about a 40 minute drive.

Thanks for letting me know about a closer place to go browsing.

It's a small store and the selection is limited, particularly for plants. But the stock is usually very good quality and the owner, Joe, is a super nice guy.

I have about 20 bolivian rams that I bred -- a tiny bit bigger than the german rams and equally interesting. why buy from a petstore when you can trade or get it cheaper from a fellow aquarist

One pair in that batch already bred - so I am pretty sure they are ready for a new home.

I love Bolivian Rams. Is there a trick to keeping them? pH or specific food, Eugen????

They are the most tolerant from all dwarf cichlids group ( including the german rams and the apistogrammas). I think the key is to have stable conditions, even if pH is a little off. The fry are more picky in terms of food. The adults eat almost anything. That is why I started with them. They breed constantly so I believe they are doing well.
