I gave them a water change last night, tank was beyond horrid. Everything was fine.
Woke up this morning, he's chasing her relentlessly - I think they may have just spawned right before I did the water change maybe?
Checked on her a few minutes ago, she's ragged, stiff, barely breathing... he killed her.
So much for my Eunotus pair - he killed her :(

One word = Divider Sorry to hear it. I know I have learned that lesson the hard way with apisto's myself. Go make yourself a stiff drink and sit in front of the 180 and contemplate the meaning of life.....or at least the bottom of the glass.

Anyone know a bartender than can recommend a good drink for such an occasion?
I've had a similar thing lately with my Pelvcachromis pulcher 'Super Reds'. Initially, the pair (which bred in Scales tanks) was all buddy buddy, but never spawned. Now, I only ever see the female when the male is chasing her back into the stem plants. The male roams the tank freely, seemingly has even gained the respect of the Nannochromis nudiceps that used to duel with him. I wonder if anyone has any tricks for reconciling the pulcher pair? I've been trying to feed them blackworms to get them more in the mood. Thoughts?

Ditto that....worked like a charm with my Melanochromis Auratus ....moved the male out but kept him in sight and waited about three weeks and then dropped him in and had to bring him back out after just two nights because they had beaten each other up. She is holding and has been regularly dropping about 25 fry after about three weeks of holding.
