Madagascar Lace Plant
ok, so i got me this one Lace Plant at super pets about a month ago, or a little more the plant is about doble its size, doing well in my 125 and today i found me a little surprice i got a spathe coming out! anyhow, i started to do a little research and i didn't see much in the web except for short comments and stuff, but one website had something that intrigued me. This plant reproduces by seed only? coments, personal experience...please comment here, i will post pics sometime tomorrow

You need two flower, rub them together and the flowers are pollinated. A week or so later the seeds drop off the spathe as they start to sprout. Next thing you know you have little lace plants all over the tank.

during the past two weeks or so, my lace plant is been dying...the leaves turn brown and fall apart, is it common? i was thinking it might go through a cicle where it completely dies out but the bulb and it might show back up next year or something...
BTW, it didn't flower anymore so i never got any good shots of it

Damian;
Your plant may be going dormant.
You can read more about them here:

thanks guys, i knew i read on the APC plantfinder before, thats where i originally got the idea of "going dormant", i just couldn't remember. in addition to it, i have been lacking the iron supplement and the CO2 tank was empty (...) has been for at least week or so. i think im pumping waaaay too much co2 out, and well, i need a bigger tank anyhow, lets give that plant a rest and hopefully will come back around spring

hi all, quick update is that the plant is back up and very green, a few leaves die every now and then but new ones come right back up got a new question though:
ok, so i decided to redo my moms 75 because, honestly, is a mess...anyhow i was thinking on moving the lace plant there, currently neither of the tanks has CO2 and both are running pretty low light. The question is, will it totally kill the plant moving it out? or will it melt and somehow come back? thanks!
