Holes in my plants and no moss growth

Post by sns26 »

1) My show tank is high light, CO2, fertz, etc. The full tank shot I included below shows that some of my stems are growing crazily well.

2) On the other hand, some of my stems are not growing as well, and I'm getting some weird pinholes in my anubias and bucephelandra.

3) And the weirdest thing is that all the various mosses I've tried growing in here won't get going. They just slowly turn brown and die.

Ideas? Are the low-class stems and chain sword sucking the life out of the slower growers?

Also, how cool is it that I've managed to get water to stay in my tank when it's upside down?

When I click on the picture it turns right side up, so it should only be half full.

What critters do you have in the tank?

Are the holes on old leaves, new leaves, or both?

Those aren't pinholes like you would see from a K deficiency, they look like they rotted away into the leaves. The edges of the leaves look like you had BBA at one time. Could the holes correspond to places where there were anchor holds for the BBA?

Please tell me how you are killing mosses. I have a couple tanks I would love to eradicate the moss from.

I just started C02 and micro/macro fertilizer and noticed the exact same sort of holes in my plants, I could use the same pictures you provided. Given that nothing else has really changed in my tank and the tank has been set up for a couple of years (never having holes on low tech tank), I can't figure it out either.

Paul,

What are you dosing your tank with?
