Goodbye Ludwigia Glandulosa?

I have 8 or so stems of this plant. About half of those stems (located where the lighting is of highest intensity) are growing passably well. The other stems (located where they don't receive as much light) are looking pretty poor (see the picture - the foreground stems are the ones in question).

Admittedly, I'm only guessing that (lack of) lighting is the cause of the stunted growth, shriveled leaves, lack of red, etc. Of course it could also be my naive fertilization method (some Flourish root tabs here and there plus Flourish liquid twice per week).

Regardless of what the root cause is (pun intended), I plan to get rid of the failing stems. Does anyone think that a more diligent GWAPA member could rescue these stems? Or is the appropriate destination for these stems the MoCo incinerator?

Jim, don't be discouraged -- Ludwigia gladulosa is one of the more difficult plants to grow well in the hobby. It really wants to be emersed, so without strong light, CO2, and consistent fertilization, it definitely will lose the lower leaves and look sickly. Since your plants aren't dead, if given ideal conditions, I'm sure they'd rebound.

The leaves are curling a little and a stem is rotting. It probably needs potassium and nitrogen.

I'll bring them Saturday and if no one wants to take a shot at reviving them, it's off to the incinerator.

Depending on how far gone, I might give them a whirl. I had a successful run with some nice healthy ones until we had a week-long power outage... obviously, they did not far well without the plant lights above the tank. In any case, I wish you the best...

I had a memory failure as the species I was thinking about was Ludwigia senegalensis... sorry, my bad.
