I'm having no problem growing staurogyne 049. Yet what I think is straightforward microsword is stunted and is developing some wispy looking algae. These plants are in the same tank. Any idea of what I perhaps should be doing differently?

Fred--
I didn't comment--mostly because I can't tell from the photos that the swords are stunted. One thing I know--swords will only grow in thickly if the light is very intense. How much light do you have going there? The other thing is looking at your ferts and water qualities--maybe tinkering with that will help.

Thanks for the reply. I have 2x54 T-5 HO lights running. I have the capability of running 4x54, but that seems to be a bit too much light and seems to cause more algae.
As far as water quality goes, I don't do much other than change 50% of the water weekly with standard fairfax county tap. I fert EI with dry ferts, 3/4 TSP KNO3, 1/4 TSP KH2PO4 day one and Plantex CSM+B 1/4 TSP the next day, alternating every day. So I think I'm covering all from the nutrient side. Substrate is eco complete, which has been in since September of last year. CO2 is injected, using the up aqua atomizer, which appears to be a huge improvement over the reactor I was using. Stem growth of the established plants has improved markedly since adding the atomizer, the stauro is also growing thicker.
However, since the previous post I started getting BBA on the microsword, so I wound up cutting it down a bit. When I saw that I also started the directing the flow downward towards the groundcover to help it out. I definitely feel i'm missing something. Especially when I see others growing the heck out of the foreground

How long did that process take for you?B Considine wrote:New tank? My microsword (lileaposis of some sort) became entangled with cladophora, which eventually faded as the tank became established.
Also, the microsword was originally in emersed form and came in much smaller and thinner after converting to submersed form.
