Mesanthenum sp. 'africa'

Post by mab »

I purchased this last year at one of the club auctions. I cannot find anything about it at all on the internet nor on any of the "expert" aquatic plant websites. Can anyone provide any further info?

Try looking for Mesanthemum sp. 'Africa' and/or eriocaulon sp africa.

I got the plant from Cavan or Aaron at an auction. I do not think I have it anymore, but it was a really nice plant.

Description from Aaron : "This is a close relative of the genus Eriocaulon, but is much much easier to grow. The leaves get very tall and will sway gently in the flow of the aquarium, much like Cyperus helferi, only the leaves are slightly wider. It makes for an awesome backround plant."

I think I only have this picture of it : Image

Thank you - It is over-running my 110g and it flowers all the time on the surface. Pulling bunches today - will treat some with alum and fluke tabs and the rest I'll feed to the worms which will then be fed to the corys.

Michael,

Can I stop by and get some today? Setting up a rack of smaller tanks that I hope to breed some tetras in. Are you looking for any plants right now for trade?

Let me know
Thanks
Rob

You are more than welcome to stop by and get some. What do you have to offer in trade? Green Washington's also work in trade.

Interested in some flame moss and/or the short from of bolbitis. The rest of the easier stuff I have. I'd have to get back into CO2 and ferts to grow a couple of those.

Michael,

I will pull some of each for you. Probably look to swing by Tuesday in the evening if that works for you. In class until 10pm tomorrow and Wednesday.

Arlene,

Let me see what the tank is looking like once I get through this trade.

Thanks
Rob

Whoa, what? Can you get some photos of that? If you could, press a few infloresceces (and perhaps a whole plant or two) between some paper and under some heavy books. This is our opportunity to put a real name on it. Please make that happen!
