mosses in discus temps - 82?

Post by m.milliner »

Has anybody had experience growing any of the mosses in 82 to 84 degree temps? I understand java moss is most likely to succeed, but haven't tried it.

In my experience no moss will look stellar in temps that high. Are you breeding the discus? If not, they'll be fine in temps of 78-80 degrees.

I was just wondering the same thing. I thought Christmas Moss (Vesicularia Montagnei) would make for a cool backdrop when attached to a grid of some sort. But also, it apparently grows slowly above 80f.

Any input on that? Thanks.

I have Taiwan moss in my work tank. For a long time the tank's temps varied between ~78 and 82. The moss grew well in that temp range.

I have mosses growing fast in my Discus tanks at 83/84 F. Peacock, Taiwan, Java and Fissidens. In fact, there are very few plants I haven't been able to grow in those temps -- and I think I've tried just about everything in the hobby.

You are allowed to brag a LOT. You've been bringing some simply awesome growth to the auctions for several months now, makes me really really want to see your tanks!

Ok... as soon as I get those awesome plants into a decent scape. That's something I haven't achieved yet. Wanna help?
