Folks:

This very small crypt, about 3 inches total across, has appeared in one of my tanks. The streaks are amano shrimp, for size comparison. Any ideas?
TY,
Marsha

Did you have wendtii in the area previously? I've gotten tiny plantlets some time after pulling whole stands out. I also have at least one I suspect is a tiny lutea from a similar situation. I assume from tiny bits of runner or rhizome that I obviously but unintentionally left behind. These take a long time in my tanks to grow up.

Or did that Anubias have its roots in a crypt clump in a prior setup?

I do have wendtiion the other side of the driftwood...

And the anubias came from the LFS... I've had it for about 6 months. Don't know what was near its roots before..

I jsut llove this little mini-crypt! Wuld be a good candidate for tssue culture to see if it grows the same

It's probably wendtii then. Even if a small peice
of root is left in the substrate - it turns into
a small plant. It'll grow to be the same size as the
parent eventually.
