Yea, I called everwhere local that is either a welding shop or beverage distributer or a fire extinguisher place. They either don't sell them or said to go to Roberts Oxygen. Thats the place that quoted me $116. I do have some old acetylene tanks laying around. I am going to see if Roberts will take them as a trade or discount.

If you do have some tanks already, you might be able to fill them at a paint ball store. I doubt most places will fill anything larger than a 5lb tank tho.

problem with paintball shops is the adapter to fill "their tanks" is different than "our tanks"

..but that is merely a guess, that was another expensive hobby i have been into as well.

Yeah... The adaptor issue is true... However, the owner of my local paintball shop fixed me up with a conversion adaptor using some spare fittings for about $10. I just attach that with some Teflon tape prior to filling. No big deal.

There's a place in Fairfax called Bars by Bud that sells supplies for a home bar, and you can get a refill there easily and it may be that they sell cylinders as well. It's 8302 hilltop rd. 703-573-1010. Of course there's always Rapids wholesalers in Iowa-->

Thanks for the info all. I was able to trade my acetylene tanks in at Roberts. I ended up with a 5# tank that will fit nicely in my tank stand. Now if only my regulator would arrive.....

I found a great place in Rockville to get CO2 cylinders filled...and while you wait! I wasn't keen on exchanging my shiny new aluminum cylinder for a banged up steel one, and the folks at Maryland Fire Equipment really helped me out.
