I changed my nano over Monday, changed the water yesterday and it was a light tea color as well. Just do frequent water changes the first few weeks and all should be well

Yes, it's the amazonia. If I fill a bucket with clean water, and take just a handful of amazonia into it, the water in the bucket turns brown. THere's also a sludge left at the bottom.

Nothing else in the tank, and it happens at initial fill, no matter how slowly I fill it or what I use in the bottom of the tank to block the force of the water. Never had this problem with Eco.

See, that looks like bacteria bloom to me. I'm sure that if you drop a handful in a bucket, that it'll brown the water, but that shouldn't be representative of filling a tank, since when you fill, you're not disturbing the fine particles. The best thing you can do is to plant it. The bacteria from the plants will help stabilize the tank. If you can fill up the 2.5G tank with water from another tank, that'll help as well. It looks like you have a filter on the back, you can put some carbon in that to help clear the water faster if need be.

it's not bacteria bloom, and I'm not even vaccuuming it, just taking water out without touching the substrate. That's what it looks like now, I did a 100% PWC and rinsed the gravel again before refilling moments before this was taken. Bacteria bloom in a matter of seconds? can't be

What I'm figuring, is that I must have gotten the bottom of the bag this was distributed from. Only thing I can figure.

Alright, so 5 (yes 5) 100% PWCs later, I got the water *mostly* clear. "Finally" I think.

So I decide to conduct a test. A simulated planting of a stem. I use my pinky finger, and press it straight down in the amazonia. What happens? A huge, brown cloud of particulate encompasses the entire tank.

So far - not impressed with this stuff at all

There are isolated reports of this happening. How hard is your water? Apparently, harder water sources can have this effect.

You rinsed it? That might be the problem. Amazonia is not supposed to be rinsed at all. You want all the dust and particles to stay in the substrate.
