Ammannia senegalensis 'mini'

New one to me. Sounds like someone is getting creative (but necessarily accurate) with names again.

Aponogeton henkeliensis

A form of A. madagascariensis. The common one I think, but don't hold me to that.

Justitia grandulosa

There is a Justicia glandulosa (Acanthaceae - Hygrophila, Staurogyne, Nelsonia, etc), but I don't know anything about it. Maybe a garden plant?

Nomaphila stricta 'bonsai'

= Hygrophila corymbosa. Might mean the 'Kompact'

Is Echinodorus magdalensis the same as E. quadricostatus?

Both are now classified as Helanthium species, no longer as Echinodorus. But yes, they are the same. I believe both are H. bolivianum.

Time to start our own naming scheme. It is just impossible to keep track of all. If it is hard for Cavan, imagine how the rest of us feel.
I think it is time for "common names" to be popular again. Or just name plants after GWAPA members. Except for Shawn everyone likes that.

Thanks, Cavan, for the information. Here is an update:

The 'Red October' is green emersed but becomes red submersed. I saw it emersed. It is not a small plant.

The Ammannia senegalensis 'mini' is from an Italian company called Anubias and Tropica calls it this.

Justitia gendarosa is the corect name-my mistake.

Also, I may be able to get Alternanthera reinickii 'mini' and Eleocharis sp. 'mini' that are both from Tropica.

Finally, I may also be able to get some Elatine hydropiper unless Aaron has flooded the GWAPA market.

I have some Ammania senegalensis, but I don't think that it's mini. At least, that part was not on the label of the plant that I bought.

We also have to add to this the problem of many sellers "promoting" varieties to species level, sometimes to get around import restrictions and sometimes just to sound cool. For example, I often see "Hygrophila rosanervig" for sale. This is actually H. polysperma var rosanervig, or H. polysperma var "Tropical Sunset." I actually came >< close to ordering it from a seller in Taiwan last week before someone pointed out that it was NOT a different species of Hygro, and as such, would be illegal to import.
