Ludwigia inclinata sp. curly emersed

Post by dougrm3 »

Hello,
Received a small cutting of this plant and want to take extra care to grow it out and preserve it. The cutting has a small side shoot that I am considering removing and placing in my new emersed setup. In the past I have often divided new plants among different aquariums. It interesting how some plants will grow really well in one aquarium and not as well in what appears to be the same parameters. My sample is only three inches long. Any recommendations?

Supposedly, this plant is a mutated form of Ludwigia inclinata sp "cuba". Removed the photo as it wasn't mine and I didn't feel comfortable using someone's work without asking.

Looking forward to the April meeting.
Doug

Tie a small string to the stem, float it and secure the string with a suction cup. Eventually it'll grow up and out of the water on its own - at that point, you can move it to an emersed setup.

BTW - I just got a stem of it too - way cool plant!

Ghazanfar,
Thank you for the response. I thought that when I ask the question of the best way to preserve it, someone would say, “give it to Ghazanfar.” Glad that you have this plant too. The small stem that I received was very stressed from four days in the mail. It has since come back nicely and started to grow. Hoping to keep it going and be able to share in the future with GWAPA.
