Three Hygrophila Pinnatifida Plantlets

Post by ddavila06 »

so at the last meeting i outbid Judy for these plants  (i promise i will give you one soon) and im happy to announce that i planted the three little plants in three different tanks:
my moms 75, attached to a piece of wood with good light and co2, no ferts and no shade
my 125, attached to a piece of rock to sink it down to the substrate, good light and co2 no ferts but some shade
and my 36 bow, attached to a roock to sink it down in the substrate, good light no co2 no ferts and no shade

of all three, the best one is the one in the 36! wich has gotten bigger and is shooting a runner/new plant growing on the side. :D so i guess it is safe to say that this plant grows well without co2 ?? i have to take three pictures but im out of batteries..tomorrow

hows your experience guys?

I haven't grown it without CO2, but it does seem to grow pretty well for me thus far. There are several other Hygrophila species that do very well without CO2, so it's possible that this one does as well. I would expect, however, that lacking CO2, it will likely be more brittle than without, just like H. polysperma.

thats true Kris, my h. corymbosa angustifolia grew like crazy without co2 but skinny stems, now these have gotten nice sturdy stems and still growing at a pretty good rate
i got me a regulator today so after today i will no longer have any tanks without co2 lol
