Tricolor sword - recommended algae treatment.

Post by mab »

I have a tricolor sword that I want to move to a new aquarium 45g. Problem is that it has algae on it - interwoven green mat type. What would the GWAPA experts recommend as a treatment to kill the algae and not kill the patient (plant) with the treatment? I'd prefer some type of dip before moving.

I'm no algae expert, but the dips I have heard mentioned here include:
1) KMnO4 (Potassium permanganate)
2) Hydrogen peroxide
3) Seachem Excel

I've used #2 and #3, and learned the hard way not to dip the roots. :x
