Trying something new...

I was stuck standing watch for the inaguration on Thursday night and had not much to do. I was surfing the web and came across this, how I don't remember. Anyway, L. Aromatica is actually an Herb used in Thai/Vietnameese cooking. The name translated is Rau Om, or Rice paddy Herb. Now being the nut that I am, I looked up Vietnamese/Korean markets, since I knew there was a large population in Virginia. Eden Market came back. On Friday, my wife and I went on an adventure to Fairfax County to several Asian markets/stores.

The good part...We all know the cost of L. Aromatica can be pricy. I purchased 5 bags of Rau Om for .79 cents each!!!. To my surprise, when I got home, there were about 50 stems in each bag. All the cuttings were about 4 - 5 inches and in GREAT shape!!! I added the cuttings to my 150 gallon tank on Friday afternoon. As of today, Monday morning, they already started putting out new growth!!!

Does any one know of any other herbs that grow well in tanks?

I knew it was an herb used in Vietnamese cooking,
didn't know it was available locally though!
Good stuff - grow it out see how it does. I know
there are several varities of L. aromatica - should
be interesting to see how this one turns out.
