So I picked up the Elatine "chinensis or whatever Aaron had" up at the auction from Sean, and go figure that it's thriving and seemingly happy in the nano that has killed every other stem plant put in the tank - but oddly not the cherry red shrimp that came in on the Lobelia cardinalis 'small form' that died pretty quick. She's very happy and red. And no - I have no idea what's going on since I don't have a test kit or even a thermometer on the tank.
I tried to look up E. chinensis/whatever, and then remembered I had gotten some E. orientalis from Aaron in the past, but I'm not sure either name is valid? Not listed on wikipedia anyways, and I can't find info on those names. It seems this tank might turn out to be an Elatine paradise after all but I'd like to know what's actually in the tank
Ok, that's what I thought but I'm not finding much info on it. There was also a site that listed it as a syn to triandra, so I'm just not sure what's going on taxonomically.
But then again... as long as it stays happy why am I caring so much?
