Gnats in emersed

Post by Jeff120 »

I have those tiny gnats, Im guessing fungus gnats one of my emersed flats. I changes the water and flushed the post on day last week. Today I see a bunch of tiny eggs on the water surface. I put some Utric. gramnahoweveryouspellit! to the setup. Any other suggestions to get rid of them. Maybe a few drops of dish soap to the water to break surface tension? Stumped......

Can you put a powerhead in there to circulate the water? What about an airstone? I've got spider mites in my setup right now, which I need to get rid out.

I keep sundews and butterworts in my emersed setups to control the gnats. They thrive in the same conditions. I'll check to see if I have any extras.

Cheers.

That would be perfect Jim! Thanks!

I found an article about using hydrogen peroxide for house plants to get rid of them. May try a solution of that in the emersed setup

I just used insecticide, Shultz I think it was. It works like a charm. Just a few sprays gets rid of them all.
