Is it a flower? I think it is...
Anyhow, my question - the stalk is now long enough to reach the water surface. Should I help it do that, or let it lay down low in the tank?
Essentially, I don't know whether to treat it as a tenellus runner, or an aponogetan flower.

Cool, an actual flower!!
For real this time, hehe, no leaf pretending to be a spathe.
So - help it to the surface, or let it crawl the floor as it is doing?

Let it be. Observe the first time through anything, manipulate later occurrences as desired.

Well, actually they're just flower buds so far.
99% of the time they grow out of the water on their own, the stalk will grow much much longer. But it can sprout new plantlets, even underwater, you just won't get to see the flower.
