Board Election for 2012
Board Election for 2012
Election time is here, and we have some openings for board positions. If you'd like to run for a position, even if there is someone running already, please do. As always, we need new blood in the leadership.
So, GWAPA is calling you to volunteer yourself and/or nominate someone else for the 2012 board. Here are the positions with their job descriptions:
President (Nominated: Jen Williams) - Oversees all club operations. Runs meetings, and works with the rest of the board to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Vice President (Nominated: Viktor Gyorffy) - Assists president with club operations.
Treasurer (Nominated: Cristy Keister) - Manages club finances at bank and paypal. Should be available to attend nearly every club meeting, so that auction and raffles can be paid for.
Corresponding Secretary (Nominated: Arlene Wagner) - Promotes club at local stores and vendors. Organizes group orders, and contacts manufacturers to obtain donations for raffle items.
Recording Secretary (Nominated: Judi Hammet) - Keeps meeting notes, and types them up in a timely manner for our website. Should have adequate writing skills, and be comfortable with word processors like MS Word. Should be available to attend nearly every meeting, or arrange for a substitute.
This thread will be updated as members volunteer themselves or nominate others for the various positions of the board.

Re: Board Election for 2012
I would be interested in running for Recording Secretary, if someone would like to nominate me. I can't promise that I will make it every month (I often miss August and/or September, for instance), but I should be able to attend most meetings.
I can't promise pictures. The only camera I have is a point and shoot, which does sometimes take decent pictures of tanks, but that's due more to luck than any skill on my part.

I'll run for Treasurer. I make most, if not all meetings. I think there are others interested in running, too. Let's hear from you all!

Re: Board Election for 2012
Would the current board consider adding a seat or two for "governors?" These are non-officers who have a vote and lend their ideas. I think it's a good way to get people involved so that they can see what the board is all about without the pressure of running for a "job."
Re: Board Election for 2012
I nominate Christy for Treasurer and Judi for Recording Secretary. I know Judi took great notes at the Sept mtg.
I am so glad they have both volunteered.

I nominate Julie for corresponding Secretary if she is interested. She did a lot of ordering which became semi-group orders so she's got that nailed.
Cheers.

I just have too much crazy personal stuff going on to add any more responsibility to my life right now. Hopefully next year will be calmer.DelawareJim wrote:I nominate Julie for corresponding Secretary if she is interested. Re: Board Election for 2012
I have plenty of time on my hands but I am too new to the club and it looks as if all the positions are covered, but if we ever get desperate to fill a spot or if someone needs help with a large project I would be glad to offer any help possible. Besides Christy already has the fun job, counting all the money.
Sincerely,
Tim

No, no. I don't already have the job. There are a couple of others who said they would be interested in running for Treasurer. If you want the job, please nominate yourself.
