The board is proud to announce a series of speakers for the next three months.
Our May meeting speaker will be Nancy Rybicki, from the US Geological Survey, who is an expert in Potamac river submerged aquatic vegetation. She is going to discuss the ecology, diversity, history, and current distribution of aquatic plants in the Potamac region.
Then in June, we will follow it up with a talk from Bob Bock of North American Native Fishes Association, about native fishes for the planted aquarium. If there is enough interest, Bob has volunteered to coordinate a collecting trip for local sunfish sometime later in the summer.
The May and June meetings will both be held at the Park Police Headquarters on Layhill Road in Silver Spring, MD. Since both speakers necessitate the use of a projector for PowerPoint, it makes sense to hold the meetings there.
We will return to Francine Bethea's house in July, where Luis Navarro will present, and aquascape Francine's 125G aquarium. As one of the pioneering aquascapers in the U.S., Luis has a wealth of information to offer.
