The GWAPA board needs your help. We received this email from the Catfish Convention board this week. They are very generously offering GWAPA the opportunity to have an informational table about the club, where we would need people present to answer general questions about GWAPA, and handout flyers/business cards. We would need coverage on both Friday night and all day on Saturday.
The GWAPA board feels this is a great opportunity to further inform our fishy comrades about the joy of planted aquariums, but we can't do this ourselves.
Therefore, we need to know whether enough members would be willing to help out. Obviously, the more people that participate, the shorter the shifts, and the more time each individual will have to enjoy the convention. (which is fabulous btw)
You are invited to participate in the All-Aquarium Catfish Convention
2008 sponsored by The Potomac Valley Aquarium Society. We are offering your organization the opportunity to promote your club/association. In addition to vendor rooms AACC2008 will feature a clubs/association room for all national associations and mid-Atlantic clubs.
All we ask is that you staff your convention table Friday: 3:00pm - 9:00pm, Saturday: 8:00am - 7:00pm. You have the option of staffing your convention table on Sunday: 8:00am - 12:00 when non-conventioneers will be visiting for the all-day auction.
This is not a fund raising opportunity for you club/association.
Accordingly we cannot offer the opportunity for fund raising raffles or sales. You may raffle a free membership as a means to collect contact information from those interested in your organization.
The AACC20008 website is still in development - it should be up this week - www.catfish2008.com

Umm Im a little confused on one thing..

So is NO ONE allowed to sell raffle tickets?
Who is receiving the proceeds from the auction?
The other Jeff
Master of growing algae and getting better at plants
These tables are extra space that they're offering to clubs, but since it's free space to the clubs, they want it to be informational, and they don't want clubs competing with other convention raffles/auctions/lectures etc going on. Sure, there will be raffles (I think another Amazon trip infact), but the GWAPA table cannot sell anything.
