Re: Jan. Mtg at Amazonia in National Zoo
Since we are not renting the room, we might be able to accommodate spouses and possibly older children. I'm not bringing my 5 and 6.5 year olds, because they are very chatty and I don't want them disrupting the talk/tour.
I'm going to be talking to our speaker/tour guide tomorrow to cinch up the details and I'll see what the maximum amount of people can be part of the tour.

In case there's any doubt about it, kids are very welcome at my house both before and during the auction part of the meeting; my 9- and 2-year olds will certainly be zooming around, so the more the merrier.

I was planning on bringing my wife, our 2.5 year old son and new born daughter. Is this okay? I'm fine taking them aside if they're disruptive, but I don't think they will be.

Thanks Arlene for looking into this. My son is 11 and very well behaved.

Re: Jan. Mtg at Amazonia in National Zoo
OK. I spoke to Ed to clarify Saturday's tour. He would like to do a small group, preferrably 15 but no more than 20, to do a behind the scenes tour part and that children can be part of our group, but not in the behind the scenes part (ie research areas). But kids can be part of the tour like the stingray area, the large tank area, the upper level area, and the big exploration area. Any more than 20 in the behind the scenes part, then it will get very crowded, especially in the back hallways and narrow pathways. He also mentioned that above 20 people, it will get harder to hear what he is saying.
So we can bring spouses and children. We will just have to see how many members and family show up for the tour. Ed suggested that we see how many members show up, and then fill in the extra spots with spouses and then with children.
As a side note, downstairs in the big open area, there is a lot of room for children to explore with hands on microscopes, pictures and maybe some videos. Also, there is a great exhibit of small frogs and hands on activities for the kids to do too. I posted some pictures that I took from my son's 4th birthday party at the Amazonia and the kids had a blast exploring.
So I say, bring the family, bring the kids...we'll fill in the 20 spots...
Also, out of curiousity, can we have a count of how many people are coming and how many family members will be coming along too???

I'll be there.

I'll be there too, but no kiddos. Frogs wouldn't hold their interest for very long.
