I salvage glass from broken aquariums to make glass tops. As a result I've learned to cut glass and rarely have mistakes - so if you are looking for glass tops drop by the fishroom with your measurements to see what we can do.

The problem I've had with glass tops on my aquariums, and the reason I no longer use them, is that the water still evaportes, it just condenses on the glass tops. Then they get dirty, and that combined with the water droplets reduces the amount of light that gets in. It has seemed easier to top off the water than to clean the tops.

Now back on the topic of this thread: I spend upwards of an hour each evening feeding, checking, and doing on-the-spot "can't wait" maintenance* plus some water changes (I do some tanks twice weekly.) On the weekend I have to carve out a three to four hour chunk of time for water changes to ~60 tanks (from 1.5g to 125g, BTW: I've added two large tanks - 110g & 120g since the last GWAPA meeting at my place.) I think I've documented my dosing system someplace else on this forum - I also capture and mix rainwater with this system.

*Last night about three hours swapping out a filter on the 110g and troubleshooting a leak on the "new" Eheim II.

get a fluval, never leaked for me and easy to maintain!

i spend about 5 mins per day dumping food, about once a week i trim, move, mess around, etc with my large tank and that can take about half-to-an hour and byweekly or so i change about 50-60 percent of the water left in the tank (usually about 5 inches low) that also takes a good hour...

so much work!!! lol, is enjoyable

To much, its this time of year I wish I have fewer tanks. In the winter its fine as I dont have outside things to do. I spent a few hrs on the weekend doing water changes, if I have to trim its a bit more. Weekday probably 15-30 mins a day messing around.

I guess that is exactly why I held on setting up the GLA tank we purchased back in March. The weather was warming up, and I knew travel season was upon us. So I'm gathering all the equipment over the travel season, setting up in the fall. By Feb next year, it'll be mature (hopefully) and I might decomission another. I guess an auto water changer would be helpful, if the tank locations were optimal. I guess the average time spent on tanks is 2.5 hours, except for MAB with 60 tanks!
