What about advanced systems design? It would be fun to for instance take a trip to the Amazon exhibit at the National Zoo in DC and to look at how the heck you go about setting up a freshwater tank of that size. Basically the whole place is one giant vivarium.
It would also be interesting to discuss the future of the hobby. What are the next big innovations? What can we learn from coral reef fanatics?

By the way, I dont know how many of you saw it but there are available volunteer positions advertised on Craigslist for that Amazon exhibit. I was trying to get into it but with the two jobs it just hasnt worked out. Not sure if there is a current posting from the person at the Zoo so I will look for the email with the required paperwork and make it available to anyone thats interested. If a member was working there then we might get a back door tour of the facility.
Thanks
Rob
Thanks

My coworker is friends with the president of their volunteer organization. If we put together a rough timeframe for when we want to go and what we'd like to see, I can make contact to see what's available in terms of behind-the-scenes stuff. I've been wanting to see the Amazon exhibit myself for some time.

I agree. The zoo during the summer is awfully crowded. OK, I'll find out what is available first, and then we can put it all together later. That sounds cool! I'd think the winter months would work out better for a behind
the scenes tour as there would be fewer folks visiting the zoo. Once spring
arrives - its like a zoo in there!
