Our collecting trip will be this weekend, Saturday, October 10, at 10 a.m. to about 12:00 p.m., in Pimmet Run under the Bridge at Old Dominion Road.
If you plan to attend, you will need a Virginia fishing license. You can get one on line if you prefer. Since the license expires in January, and since we won't likely be going on any more trips this year, you might want to only get a temporary license, especially if you're out of state.
You can purchase one on line here: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/
Waders or boots are also a good idea, as is a change of clothes in case you fall in. Insect repellent and sun screen wouldn't hurt either, although since it's a short trip late in the year, I don't know how necessary they will be.
I have seines we can use.
If I don't forget, I'll bring the field photo tank, too.
For directions, type this address into your GPS or Mapquest:
6580 Old Dominion Drive
McLean, VA 22101
See you Saturday morning!

CANCELLED: Collecting Trip October 10 Pimmet Run

You never know what you're going to find, or where you're going to find it. So keep looking.

You need a Virginia fishing license to collect fish on this trip, not a permit. You can get the license on-line at http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/.
When Mary brought this up, I assumed fish, not plants. (I know, I should have thought plants, too, but I've never organized a plant trip and didn't think of it.)
I don't know what regulations, if any, apply to plant collection. You folks have gone on plant trips before, right? What did you do then?

Boots or chest waders are optional. They help in cool water. The last few trips I went on, I wore old shorts and sneakers. If you don't mind wading in cold/cool water, then I don't mind your wading in cold/cool water.

It seems that folks are more interested in plant collecting, than fish collecting, so we're going to cancel this fish collecting trip, and try and put together a plant collecting one tomorrow at the same time if there's enough interest and the weather cooperates.
