Just in case it wasn't already obvious, it's been over six months since I actually attended a GWAPA meeting, and quite frankly, I've been doing a lousy job of coordinating the food for meetings these last few months. I think it would be good if someone with more time and the ability to make it to more meetings would take over the role of food coordinator.
This isn't an elected board position or anything like that, it's just an informal position, and the requirements are pretty minimal. A week or so before the meeting, post to this forum asking who wants to bring food, and make sure the supplies bucket ends up at the home of the meeting host. Pretty simple, but I've been so busy these last few months, I can't even manage that. So if you would like to take over the position, just respond to this thread.
Thanks,
Chris

Tell us more about what is involved. E.g., does the club give you money each meeting to help buy stuff? If no one else volunteers are you responsible for it? Etc.

Re: Who wants to be food coordinator?
Well, John, there aren't any hard and fast requirements, since this has always been an informal and completely voluntary thing. It's not an official board position, and honestly, the way the food at meetings thing has evolved, it might not be necessary any more to have a single person coordinating things (though I think it helps).John G wrote:Tell us more about what is involved. But basically, when I was doing it regularly, I would just post asking who would be willing and able to bring food and drink to the meetings, and if it was obvious there was a shortfall for a particular thing (typically drinks), ask if someone could volunteer to obtain that thing, and usually someone would step up. We have a stated budget of about $40 per meeting, so anyone who spent money could ask the treasurer for reimbursement. My impression is that we have stayed well under our $40 budget, though I will defer to Cristy for definitive word on that. No one has ever been obligated to do anything food-wise, it has always been completely voluntary. If no one were to volunteer to bring food to a meeting, then we just wouldn't have food for that meeting. The hosts are not obligated to do anything food-wise, either.
I have noted that the number of people who bring food and/or drink has dwindled down to a relatively small number of regulars, and maybe that's my fault for not encouraging people a little more, and maybe that's where having a more active coordinator could help.
The only other logistical task of the food coordinator is to ensure that the "GWAPA food supplies bucket" (which has paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils, etc.) makes it to the host's home each month, usually by coordinating with the next month's host to pick it up at this month's meeting. That's about it.
I'm just not active enough on the forum or in the club to do this anymore, or I would be happy to continue in this informal role.

I'll do it.
