Hearst Aquarium rebuild - Sat, 24 November

Post by mab »

All,

As you know the aquarium leaked. I consulted with fabricators at Aqueon (All Glass Aquariums and Oceanic) on the rebuild. Aqueon is supplying dots and caulk for the rebuild.

We are on for the Saturday after Thanksgiving to take out and clean all the glass that will be reused. Then to install the bottom glass and some if not all of the vertical glass. *The more hands we get to help the faster it will go*. We should start somewhere between 7:00 and 8:00.

Here is the address:
Phoebe Hearst Elementary School
Early Childhood Center
District of Columbia Public Schools
3950 37th, Street, NW
Washington, DC 20008

If can come please let me know.

We'll need 6" C clamps for the vertical glass re-install. I have a half dozen, so if you have some that would be helpful. I'll cut small plywood squares to protect the glass when clamping. The clamps will come home with us at the end of the day.

I wish I could be there to help. My wife and I are moving 4 days later so I'll have a lot on my plate then.

Will be in New York that weekend, bringing the family home to see the grandparents and such.

Hello,
The Hearst Aquarium sounds interesting. Quite a project. Do you have pictures of it posted here somewhere on this site?

Later,
