AquaFest 2007 - Laurel, MD

Post by krisw »

On October 20th/21st, three MD/VA/DC area clubs, PVAS, CCA, and GWAPA are co-sponsoring a new aquarium festival called AquaFest 2007. We will have a fish show, planted-tank demonstration, four fantastic speakers, and an all-day auction (Sunday). Our speakers are:

Eric Do
Freshwater Invertebrates in the Planted Aquarium

Tony Orso
West African Fishes

Rusty Wessel
Collecting in Honduras

Ray "Kingfish" Lucas
Banquet Speaker

Everyone is welcome. The conference is about 15 minutes from BWI airport, right off of I-95. The hotel is offering a discounted rate of $95/night for conference attendees.

Registration is only $10. Meals are available at a la carte prices. The all-day auction on the 21st is free to the public.

More information and registration is available on the AquaFest 2007 website:

I've missed the mail-in registration deadline, and don't have Paypal. Can I pay at the door?

You don't have to have a Paypal account. You can use it to send money once with your credit card.

You can register for the speakers at the door, but it will be too late to register for meals. Friday, Oct 12th is the deadline for meal registration.

Bah meals, some decent restaurants right around there!

Pasta Plus is a couple of minutes down the road for one, fantastic Italian place, with some of the best desserts around - and they do take out for all of it. MAN I miss that place, we used to go all the time when we lived in Ellicott City.

I think I'm good registering at the door, then.

George Richter asked me to clarify that the auction on Sunday is open to anything: flora, fauna, or dry good. I guess the Catfish Convention didn't allow dry goods, but this auction WILL allow dry goods so long as they're in working condition bring them to earn some extra cash. No opened fish food or anything like that, however.

I sent this to my email list tonight as a reminder.
Figured I would post here for those that are not on my CCA list.
Just an update on deadlines.

I know you will be glad when I quit sending these.

I have been asked by the Aquafest2007 committee to remind everyone that the registration for the event is now by pay pal or at the door only. Mail in registration is now closed.

Also tomorrow, Friday the 12 is the last day to register for the food and the banquet. Pay pal only.
This deadline is for the food only.

Like I mentioned above, registration for fish and the talks will still go on, by pay pal or at the door.

Please register your fish soon so we know how many tanks to set up. The numbers are climbing and I hope you join the fun.

Remember your clubs, PVAS, GWAPA, and CCA are bringing in 4 speakers. We do this for you.

Please support your clubs.

Eric, Kris, Aaron and I bagged up the plants that FAN donated. I can
promise you this - you won't be dissappointed. When Aaron is excited
to see a plant in there - you know the stuff is good! Super healthy plants,
unbelievable really.

Tony Orso is there -and he's brought some super nice fish with him to
sell for really good prices - including a tank full of Galaxy 'rasboras'.

That, combined with the great speaker lineup and GWAPA demo, you
CANNOT miss this event. Abandon the kids, tell your boss you QUIT and
comon down!
