Need NEW host for February Meeting

Post by krisw »

We just got the unfortunate news that Ali will not be able to host this month's meeting after learning that his father suffered a heart attack this past week, and remains hospitalized.

At this point, we are looking for a new host, or we will have to cancel the meeting. If anyone who is hosting later in the year wants to move their date up for February, we could swap the dates. Or, if someone missed the original call to host, and can host this month's meeting on short notice, we would really appreciate it.

I will take the meeting Kris. I cleared it with the other half. Just let me know if there is anything special I need to do. Makes divvying up the bulb order easier as well. I need a clear guesstimate of who is coming as I dont have a huge amount of space.

Thanks
Rob

Rob, thank you for volunteering! It's especially good because you're still not that far from Fins/Feathers in case the ADA order arrives in time. I'll update the pages the website this afternoon to reflect your address and directions.

Thanks again!

PS: I will be attending. :-)

Do I need to prepare anything for the meeting other than food? Was there already a topic or if there isnt I volunteer the empty forty gallon tank that I just brought back from Atlanta as a chance to show an aquascaping of a tank. Its completely empty as of right now other than some fluorite residue. Let me know what you think?
The dimensions of the tank are 36" wide, 12.5" deep, 19.5" tall.

I am open to getting new substrate(currently have fluorite, was thinking sand/soil as I was contemplating putting cories and dwarf cichlids in the tank) and I have quite a few of the Californa rocks still along with other rock/driftwood options. Not too picky about the plants as you will see.

The tank could have CO2 if I figure out how to get it set up correctly(have the tank and the other items necessary but have been too busy to hook it up) or it could be without.

I have a 36" 96W single power compact fixture on the tank.

Let me know what your thoughts are.
Thanks
Rob

Rob, I think that's an excellent topic! Let do that unless anyone has any other ideas?

Otherwise, for the meeting, you can do as much or as little as you want for food. If you care to cook yourself that's fine, but if you want to order pizza or just put out chips/salsa/dip that's fine too. It's really up to you. And GWAPA will reimburse you for the food if you ask Sean at the meeting.

I'm going to Lesco tomorrow to get some Soilmaster Select Charcoal. If you want to try it, I can get you a bag. It's 50lbs for ~$17.

I've posted the directions up on the website. Rob, if you can take a look and make sure that Mapquest got it right, I'd appreciate it.
