In case you missed it, Erik Olsen announced that they've signed a hotel contract, with the convention being in San Francisco on November 11th.

They're looking for input on what the field trips, etc so be.

What? We hosted something?krisw wrote:Yeah, I'll have to see what kind of hotel/airfare deals are to be had before I make my decision. Money aside, I'd really like to go, since I didn't get to experience much of the actual conference at the last one since GWAPA was busy hosting it.

I was thinking back on the same thing - didn't get to enjoy the one we hosted
at all! The only time I got to talk to Amano was when I was driving him from
and to the airport. Didn't get a chance to talk to Jan at all. Missed most of
the talks - havent even watched the DVD yet.
I'm going to try to attend - depends on the speakers though. Don't
really care for the 'Here's my setup' type talks.

Agreed Ghazanfar. I think the most memborable conversation I had was with the Senske brothers, shuttling them from the hotel to your house for the pre-conference reception.
Looks like there are rooms to be had at the conference hotel now for $89/night. Get two doubles, and share it with another GWAPA member, and that's quite reasonable. Probably still too far off to get a deal on airfare though.

I had the same experience with the DFW convention. I got lots of good compliments, but I didn't get to enjoy the convention much because I was running around so much.krisw wrote: I didn't get to experience much of the actual conference at the last one since GWAPA was busy hosting it.
I've been to all the AGA's but one. I'm sure I'll go to this one. Who will keep Ricky Cain under control if I don't.
The hotel rooms at GWAPA were around $100 a night it seems and I was there I think 4-5 nights. I almost paid for that with the earnings from my plant sales. Consider that if you want to go but need some $$.

In case you missed it, the official AGA announcement was made today:

I've already booked my airfare. Make sure you follow the link on this page to book your hotel, as it's $99/night through the link, and averages $165/night through Sheraton's regular website.
'Hope to see you there!
