Another great meeting. It was very interesting watching Luis setup the tank and he offered some very good tips. Thanks Francine for hosting.

I too had a wonderful time (as did my friend) and it was great to finally meet you all! I must say, the plants I purchased look wonderful. I need to get the pics up, especially my newly designed 5 gal. I was so motivated by everything that I broke down my 12 and am revamping it. Just need more substrate! BTW, if I make it to the next meeting; can someone show me planting stratiges (sorry for spelling) with the forceps? I can't seem to figure them out and wind up pulling plants out as often as I get them in. I"m also notorius for breaking the plant apart as well.

Thanks!
Bridget

It was nice to meet you Bridget! I'm glad that you left the meeting inspired. :-) Planting with the tweezers takes a little practice, but once you've got the hang of it, you'll never go back to shoving plants down with your fingers. Generally, I hold the very bottom of the stem plant/roots with the tip of the tweezers. Then, I drag the plant down into the substrate, at a slight angle. Once deep enough, I gentle open the tweezers partially, wiggle them free, and pull them from the substrate. I'd be happy to show you at the next meeting, if it's still not clear.

Once the tank is set up I can only imagine Francine bidding for more difficult plants and turning that scape into a collectors paradise...
Good luck resisting that ...

LOL! That has already crossed my mind. But I must resist the temptation!

I hear Francine's next project is a 125 gallon planted daphnia tank.

You never know what you're going to find, or where you're going to find it. So keep looking.

Funny you should ask...

I have at least 4 kinds of algae and a lot of snails.

Waiting for the foreground to grow is like watching paint dry.

The crypts are putting up new leaves, too.

I'm loving it.

I do want to get more C helferi and have yet to pick up blyxa.

Is the water cycled out of the Ammonia phase yet? Get your cleaning crew in - otos and nerites and amanos...

Oh! I found Onion plants/Crinums locally too - Exotic Aquatics has a ton of them in the back room, there is a tank back there with plants for sale.
