OK, let me come up with a list of the what and who of donations.

I'll post plants here and fish on the PVAS site.

Kris - what is a K solution? And, does anyone have a surefire way to dip plants to kill snails and eggs?

Delay for plant install - no October 27 aquascaping

Post by mab »

Just received word that the family of the company supplying the marble suffered a loss. They are scheduled to deliver the replacement pieces this week so that pushes the install to week of October 22. That then pushes the mechanicals back to the week of October 29. This means we will not be able to aquascape the tank on the 27th.

Please keep your plants healthy until I get word of when the tank is ready for plants. I fully understand if you opt out and want to get your plants into the auction.

Worse case scenario - install of mechanicals November 7/8 and aguascaping and stocking of fish November 9/10. Scales is warehousing/pre-staging fish donations. Since re-dedication is afternoon of the 14th I'll be down there in the morning to pull floaters and clean up any plants that have melted.

Mike,
We got in 6 potted Marsilea crenata and 2or3 Marsilea quadrifolia. How much do we need for the tank and when do you think we'll start?

Tank is still not ready. I'm expecting the filtration system next Monday (11/5). They will lightly scape and fill the Aquarium at that time and return on Friday (11/9) to stock with fish. Regrettably, there is no window of opportunity to plant on the weekend (11/10-11) and DC schools are out on the Federal holiday (11/12).

So is there any chance we can somehow gather the plant donations and a few folks can join me some late afternoon next week or Tuesday (11/13) to do some planting? This is a challenge since the tank is two feet deep and will be filled with water. The kids leave around 3 and the school is open every evening until 6.

I can help on a Mon-Wed afternoon.

If we can drain the tank at least 25% it would make planting easier.

I have drain hoses and one to refill. I also have a step stool I use in the fishroom that will help.

Anyone else available Mon-Weds afternoon? I'm available good to go starting at 4:00?
