2012 Aquascaping contest style
It's that time! This year we get to vote between the two styles not chosen for last year's aquascaping contest. So here's the official poll! Vote early and often! (Kidding. You can only vote once, but you CAN change your vote up until the time the poll closes). Providing I did my math correctly this poll should close one week before the February meeting. Whichever style wins will be the topic for the next meeting!

How about trimmings floating on the surface and growing like mad that I've not gotten around to planting?

How about the greatest number of different plants per square inch? My 11g would surely win that contest. I just keep cramming more plants in after every GWAPA auction.

All good ideas..................i certainly have a few tanks that would fall in any of those categories!! Of course we are forgetting the all-time classic 'algaescape'...

All the above could be considered variants of the "nature" style. Unless things change, my entry will be "Snailscape with Moss and Clado".
Re: 2012 Aquascaping contest style
We could judge all these entries by using the "hurl" test. As in "which of these would most quickly make Takashi Amano hurl?"

The more I think about it, the more I think GWAPA ought to open the contest up to both styles this year. Both styles attempt to capture a slice of nature, though on different scales. Both styles share an aesthetic. So why not have both an iwagumi and "other" nature category?
