Hmm, a little dilemma I can't seem to solve
I have a 24 G Aquapod and I'm using 2 compact daylight florescent bulbs, Amano Amazonia normal and powder type substrate and power sand. I also inject CO2 using a canister and regulator at 1 bubble per second. The tank chemistry is good--pH 7.0, temp 71 degrees, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates all ze...

ADA Amazonia
Four months ago I set up and planted a new 25 G tank with ADA Amazonia including Power Sand. I followed the directions provided to the letter. Besides the expected water clouding I noticed that the water immediately turned a brown/green color. When I contacted Jeff Senske of ADA he said it was norma...

I didn't notice any background information regarding your problem. Is this a condition in a new Nano or an established one? What's the tank size? How long has it been up and running? What type of soil are you using? Any signs of decomposition in the plants? What are your water conditions? Is the tan...

Can't get the balance right
For months I've tried to get the right combination of light, CO2 and fertilizers but I've been totally unsuccessful. My plants in my small tanks (3 G and 12 G) are fading, yellowing, and in some cases being overgrown by algae). I think that part of my problem is the poor lighting in my supermarket M...

Actually my first planted tank only has six Black Phantom Tetras and two Dalmation fish. The younger Tetras tend to swim down among the young plants, probably because the oldest Tetra chases them around the tank whenever they come up toward the surface. None are distrubing the plants that I can tell...

Okay, this is totally not-serious, but I don't think I'll ever have to worry about transplanting things in my tank. Heck, I can't keep the stuff in the substrate as it is! It's always popping out on its own and floating to the top of the tank. Gosh darn it! I keep trying to follow the directions I h...

I checked with Jeff Senske, the US distributor for Amano. He explained that the Power Sand should not find its way to the top of the soil unless we're vacuuming our substrate or uprooting plants, or unless we have fish that are diggers. He also said that the aqua soil is not intended to be used with...
