Chris, nice setup. Seems like there'd be room for some kind of fish or other in the three or four inches of water at the bottom of your setup. Maybe least killies. This is why I like Sonny. He sees a few inches of patchy water, and immediately is thinking - where are the fish? No puddle too insigni...

Tom, you left at exactly the wrong time! It was about 4 pm when everyone started getting tired, and many folks started to leave, and incredible deals could be had. I could see that coming, but just couldn't stay any longer. The crowd started to thin out when I left, and there were still sever...

The darters were up in the morning, probably just didn't recognize name. The males were incedible, I brought two pair of them up as a runner. Etheostoma caeruleum doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. I didn't get there until around 1, you snooze, you lose. I've attempted darters before, but only re...

Auction was huge as everyone else stated. To be Also snagged a pair of Rainbow Darters -- yay! damn, how much did they set you back? I would have entered into some spirited bidding had I been there for that sale. As it was, I had to leave at 4:15, and there were a lot of items yet to be brought up ...

What do you intend to target?

Just the mere mention of collecting is likely to bring sonny disposition running, so beware. Anywhere you might find aquatic vegetation, you are likely to find finny creatures as well. :)

Blaise, ... Roberts Oxygen does the swap only (which is what I wanted. I don't care what the tank looks like, and I'd just as soon it be someone else's problem to make sure it's hydrotested when needed.) That's what I do, swap at Roberts. I see no point in "owning" the tank, when you can ...

I think it's cool to have something mysterious, secretive, and a bit creepy in one's tank.

I've seen some folks only solve this problem by laying a piece of stainless steel screen over top of the powersand layer when they first setup the tank. This should help prevent it from floating to the top. I agree that it's a pain. My plan is usually to ignore it until the plants are thick enough ...

That aqua soil doesn't seem to compact at all, it's really a small gravel that remains loose. But I was wondering if the nutrients was a potential issue, or if the plants like the bigger nuggets of gravel to grab and hold. Still, I can't imagine anyone setting up a tank only for it to look lousy the...
