My Bletilla germinated! And the Palustris has thrown up a couple of plantlets! Everything else is hibernating though.

Kris, hang in there. My palustris was (and still is) turning brown in some spots, but in the last two days finally showed a new shoot with a tiny leaf. I figure as long as there is no obvious contamination or complete degradation there is always hope. And unless you need to recycle the jar, might as...

The CVS pharmacy gave me a couple of needle-less syringes for free which we use for dosing tanks when I asked at the pharmacy counter.

Trident Java fern spores
Well, I've collected some in wax paper. Has anybody ever grown ferns from spores before? How long does the gametophyte phase last? (probably longer than my patience)

Yellow tiny insects hopping on water surface?
We've got a few (3-5) tiny yellow-orange thingies hopping on the water surface of our 20 gallon high. They are less than 1mm in length. Can't catch 'em either. Probably harmless, but has anybody seen these things before?
