Re: Sept Meeting at Julie's house
I'll be there. I can bring a crock pot of black beans. I prefer to make them a little spicy, with diced jalapeños, onions, garlic, and herbs. For the vegans out there (Cavan), will that fly?

Re: Website Performance
I noticed the error message went away, Thanks for fixing that! Everything looks fine so far, though I'm not sure I like the redesign of the Tapatalk app. Maybe I'm just becoming a cranky old guy who can't handle change...

Re: Titan arum about to bloom at US Botanical Garden
Nice, Arlene! We just got back from seeing it as well. Amy and I took my daughters and Judy's daughters as well. We were actually disappointed about the smell, which was only vaguely reminiscent of dead fish. But it was gorgeous and huge. It must be eight or nine feet tall, and the inner portion of ...

Titan arum about to bloom at US Botanical Garden
FYI, the US Botanical Garden in DC has a Titan arum that should open its flower in the next day or two. Get out to see it if you can, because the bloom only lasts 24 to 48 hours. Amy and I just missed the peak bloom of one of these plants when we visited Hawaii a few years ago, and even wilted and t...

Why couldn't you light your 120 with LEDs?FrannyB wrote:I am reading a lot about LED and from what I've seen so far convinces me that it probably would be a good investment. It is just that it sticks in my craw that I would not be able to light my 120 and would have to settle for a tiny tank. Geez.

Re: LED lighting...Huh?
If I can borrow the PAR meter, I'll measure the output of my Kessil A150W LED pendant. I like how the light color looks, but its only been above the terrarium for a week, so I don't have any data on growth. It's supposedly 6700 K.

Re: Kessil A150W LED pendant
It's a 54g. And just so you know, it will be a carnivorous plant terrarium. And I'm eager to see how it works as well.JLW wrote:Not bad pricing on them, either. Is that a 54-G or a 92-G?
I want ot hear how it's working 90 days from now.
