Hey Maggie! Very cool, and welcome to the club. I really like these fish, they are always up to something. You reminded me that my fiance got a decent picture of one of the males displaying, we still haven't been able to get a shot of the males displaying to each other, someday! http://lh5.ggpht.com...

Thanks! Once I redo this tank I think i'm going to try native plants only. I'll be watching your native tank closely!

A buddy of mine is setting up a native 150 gallon so I might give me fish to him and start over.

75 gallon - Native Tank

I posted this on another forum but thought I would put this here as well. This tank was never meant to be a planted tank but it ended up growing into one :) I started this tank back about 15 months ago now, after a long hiatus from the hobby. It's gone through some changes over the months. The tank ...

Bob - I've had them turn black before, it looks really cool. I don't mess with Neoprane, I just layer up ;). Thanks Corey - I've had mine for about three months. They can be a little territorial but a heavily planted tank keeps them in line. Their center of adundance is Florida, I wouldn't let their...

Thanks Bob - These are the only native fish I ever bought, I got them from Dustin and I assume they came from the introduced Carolina population of Bluefins. I actually seined a bit on the weekend in the Tidal Patuxent, came up with a bunch of Tessellated Darters, Spot Tail Shiners, Banded Killies a...

Bluefin Killifish

A couple of my male Bluefin Killifish have really colored up in the last week or so and have started displaying there fins. I can't catch a really good picture but this one gives a little bit of an idea of the intense color of these native fish. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_URebrP-2dQU/SZOK_oT0EpI/AAAAAAAA...

I haven't but almost all of my fish have been caught in NoVa. Maybe in a year or so once I move and can get some more tanks, some sort of local biotope is high on my list of things I want to do.

A buddy of mine from Thailand who's way into planted tanks is completely envious of my swamp darters  One of those grass is always greener on the other side things I guess.

Hey Bob -

Yep Bluefin Killies and some ghost shrimp and dwarf crays, perfect tankmates for the darters.

The darters you gave me actually spawned the first day I put them in the tank but I wasn't ready for it.
