This is a GREAT idea. I'm having a tough time deciding if I'm beginner or advanced. I've been doing this for less than a year, but I think I'm pretty solid on the basics at this point... I have never really tried to aquascape with a preconception, though.

Very poetic, Rob! But in all seriousness, I've always wanted to take a 33 long tank and give something like this a shot. It can look gorgeous!

I'm in the process of building a canopy for MH going over a 65 gallon. Long story about how I got here... The canopy is done after a long Sunday, and now I need to paint it. I cannot seem to figure out what kind of paint to use. The Internet is full of people who seem to have easy access to marine g...

If we do go to the zoo, I live about a block away. My apartment is small, but I would be glad to have people over and to check out my tanks.

What about advanced systems design? It would be fun to for instance take a trip to the Amazon exhibit at the National Zoo in DC and to look at how the heck you go about setting up a freshwater tank of that size. Basically the whole place is one giant vivarium. It would also be interesting to discuss...

Lighting for 37 gallon show tank

I'm visiting my parents for the holidays in Santa Fe, New Mexico and a good friend of ours has decided to take a shot at a planted tank. By the time I got here, she had already bought a 37 gallon show tank with an eclipse hood with about 36 watts of light. I was of course horrified with this setup, ...

suggestions for a Congo biotope...

I got an elephant nose (Gnathonemus petersi) and now I have developed a real interest in Congo basin fish. I thought I was a pure Amazon person, but I guess I'm changing my tune. One of the things I like about the Congo basin fish is that they live in water with a GH (6-10) and KH (4) exactly within...

Well, by the time I got out to Bars by Bud this past Saturday, they were out of CO2. This despite the fact that I called them in the early afternoon and they assured me everything was a go on their end. But it seems like a good place for the future. That said, I bit the bullet (and the brutal commut...
