Re: AquaFest: Iron Aquascaper Challenge Videos
Nice job the tank looked great and it looked like you both had a lot of fun! Also the plant selection and the heath of the plants looked amazing but I think some music is in order, something like 'Flight of the Bubble Bee'. On a side note I also like the skull and cross bones belt.

Re: Piranhas in a Planted tank?
Years ago when my plants were plastic (yes I said it), the problem is they are very strong swimmers and can get agitated easily so I ended up removing the plants because they were floating at the end of the day, sometimes I would come in from work and all the gravel would be on one end on the tank. ...

Re: Help me make some wise filtration and substrate decision
I've only used Eheim filters but I can say I took a 2 year road trip and when I returned my filters were still keeping the tank clean but they did weigh about 25 pounds each due to all the debris, I'm still using these same filters that I purchased in 2005 so they are work horses and very quiet.

Re: R O unit recommendations
What Julie said, check out BRS they have a ton of videos and top notch gear for just a little more than folks selling bargain basement junk. I would recommend the 6 stage that Julie and I have because it protects the RO membrane the best and also has a back wash system that lets you rinse every time...

The only small systems I've seen are from Green Leaf at $169ish and ADA, good luck.

Re: Help me pick out some fish.
I keep Kribs in my larger tank (150) but I really like nano fish in all my smaller tanks, I like to get the feel of a minature world in the tank. I have some Hara minuscula - Burmese Mini Moth Cat that are really peaceful and my favorite mini catfish and are mature at 1.5 inches, they look like and ...

Re: Hemianthus Callitrichoides- HC - Dwarf Baby Tears
I think the best thing would be a very fine substrate like AS powder but I have it planted in regular AS Amazonia and it works, you can plant it in any soil (I would think) but the short roots are a pain to get in place so have your best tweezers ready and maybe a skewer, etc., good luck. I also thi...

I didn't see what I would consider a good spectrum range but I did only take a brief look, but it's a super idea!

Re: Dosing revisited
I think the big advantage to a pH controller is you can crank up the C02 and get to the desired level earlier in the day and then it keeps it at a constant level, without one you might not reach you target until half the day has passed. I turn my C02 on 1 hour (maybe 1.5 on larger tanks) before ligh...
